Research Centres
Certain research and post-graduate study at the School of Engineering is carried out in close collaboration with other institutions and is performed within the framework of joint research centres.
The School of Engineering hosts two centres:
Casting Innovation Centre
Casting Innovation Centre (CIC) is a national initiative of world class research, development, and education for the Swedish truck, car and manufacturing industry within cast material, processes, and components. The partners in CIC is the School of Engineering and Swedish Foundry Association and Industry.
Vision
Casting Innovation Centre will constitute a well recognized organisation acting on an international market, which is strongly involved in research, development and education within the areas of product development, production/processes and materials for the casting/foundry industry.
Collaboration will contribute to the Swedish foundry industry becoming a world leader in its product areas.

Småland's tradition of entrepreneurship is a key factor
Industry in Småland has a long tradition of innovation and entrepreneurship as well as being subcontractors to big companies in Sweden. When the demand for light and smart products increases in several areas, Småland’s industry needs to keep up to ensure continued competitiveness. The LIGHTer node Småland helps companies to develop strategies and competencies to meet customer requirements regarding lightweight.
