Forskning

Kraven på produkter förändras hela tiden – Hur kan de exempelvis göras miljövänligare, lättare, snålare, tåligare, snyggare och billigare. Forskningen handlar om att ta reda på hur man ska göra för att framgångsrikt kunna möta dessa krav. Det kan vara att ta fram nya typer av verktyg som kan göra erfarenheter från tidigare produkter mer synliga för produktutvecklarna. Det kan även handla om att låta datorer göra en större del av arbetet så att produktutvecklarna kan få mer tid över för kreativt skapande.

Forskningen bedrivs i nära samarbete med företag. Hos dem kan jag studera utveckling i en verklig miljö och ta fram direkt användbara verktyg och prova ut dem. De nya erfarenheterna kan snabbt leda till förändringar ute på företagen eftersom de har varit med och deltagit aktivt i arbetet.

Biografi

Efter avlagd civilingenjörsexamen i maskinteknik vid LTH (Lunds tekniska högskola) arbetade jag några år med produktutveckling i bilindustrin, mest med formsprutade plastdetaljer samt produkter av pressad plåt. År 2003 började jag som doktorand i produkt och produktionsutveckling vid JTH. Jag disputerade i december 2008 på avhandlingen "CAD-model parsing for automated design and design evaluation" och har sedan dess jobbat vidare med forskning och undervisning i maskinelement, mekanik, CAD och produktutveckling.
