This programme develops your ability to understand and analyse various types of socio-economic problems and the dynamics of the global economy. You will learn to use economic theory to analyse and evaluate economic problems and processes and understand the underlying factors.
The programme’s major is economics (90 credits), but the programme also gives you good knowledge of statistics and econometrics (30 credits). These courses give you the skills and tools needed to process and analyse statistics which are increasingly in demand today. The programme also includes four courses (30 credits) in business administration, addressing various aspects such as leadership and accounting. Together, the combination of economics, statistics and business forms a good and broad foundation for future career choices and gives you a competitive edge when applying for jobs.

In this programme you have the possibility to do a 10-week internship during your elective semester if you don’t choose to study abroad at one of our partner universities. This internship can be done anywhere in the world and is a great opportunity to see how you can apply economic theories and tools to real-life problems.
This programme offers a possibility for you to study abroad at one of our many partner universities. This is a great opportunity for you to specialize in an area of your interest, to explore a new country and culture, and to meet new friends.
The international vibe can be experienced already here at JIBS as approximately 40% of this programme’s students are from outside of Sweden.
After graduation you can work with economic issues in areas such as environmental management, health, finance, regional development, and business development. There are also possibilities to work with these issues within international organisations such as the EU, the UN, or the OECD. Work tasks might include data collection, market analyses, managing financial assets, or working on economic or strategic issues.
After graduation you will also be eligible for the master programme Applied Economics and Data Analysis at JIBS, as well as many other master programmes in economics all over the world.
