Research

For many products, the adaptation to customer specifications is essential and requires flexible product design and manufacture while maintaining competitive pricing.

Fredrik's research is intended to contribute to the development and utilization of new methods and application systems that can be used as support in the product development process or in the quotation process. The aim of the research is to provide means to ensure that a high level of compliance between the product design and the manufacturing system is reached for the purpose to cut costs and ultimately ensure companies' competiveness.

Biography

Fredrik Elgh holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Product and Process Development from Chalmers University of Technology, and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Product Development and Design from School of Engineering, Jönköping University.

Fredrik has worked within the areas of education, administration, management and research. In 2011 he got an position as Associate Professor in Product Development and in 2014 a position as Full Professor in the same subject. He is head of Computer Supported Engineering Design, one of the research groups within the area of Product Development. The focus of the research group is on advanced computer support for development, design, analysis and production preparation of mainly customized products. Prior to his academic career Fredrik has worked as a Production Engineer within manufacturing industry.
