RESEARCH AREA

Nischal Bhattarai is a doctoral student in the SMARTE project (A Streamlined Environmental Permitting Process for Construction Projects Related to Critical Infrastructure) at the School of Engineering, Jönköping University. The project aims to create a more structured and digitalized framework for environmental permitting, improving the efficiency, transparency, and predictability of the overall process.

BACKGROUND

Nischal Bhattarai was born in Nepal. He pursued his undergraduate studies in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna in Sri Lanka under the Presidential Scholarship programme. After completing his degree in 2020, he returned to his home country and worked as a structural engineering designer for two years.

Driven by a strong passion for digitalization of the construction sector, he moved to Sweden to pursue a master’s degree in Sustainable Building Information Management (BIM) at the School of Engineering, Jönköping University. His studies focused on leveraging digital technologies and data-driven approaches for improving efficiency, collaboration and sustainability in the built environment.

After completing his master’s studies, he continued his academic journey and is enrolled at the Department of Computer Science and Informatics (CSI) at the School of Engineering, Jönköping University.
