About the programme:
Design is a key competitive tool in the marketplace. Form, design, and function often determine the choice of one product over another. As user demands increase, so does the need for skilled product designers, making you highly valued by future employers.
This programme is tailored for engineering graduates who want to add a design perspecitve to their technical skills and become industrial designers. If you are passionate about creating new products and improving existing ones, this is the programme for you.

With a focus on both form and function, the programme gives you a comprehensive understanding of the entire product development process. You will learn to visualize and evaluate concepts using advanced design tools and prototyping techniques, ensuring your designs are not only innovative but also practical and manufacturable.
Throughout the program, you’ll work on a range of projects and assignments that will give you hands-on experience in the different stages of industrial design, such as sketching, surface modeling, and rendering.
You'll also explore digital aspects of product design through a course in user experience design, allowing you to understand how digital interfaces impact physical products. The programme also emphasizes sustainability and material selection, giving you the knowledge needed to create functional and environmentally responsible products. responsible.
By collaborating with leading companies and working on real-world design projects, you will gain valuable experience and expand your professional portfolio. The programme places a strong emphasis on training industrial designers who can create products that are visually appealing, user-friendly, and socially sustainable.
Career opportunities and further studies
After completing the program, you’ll be qualified for roles as an industrial designer or design engineer. You’ll be able to analyze and optimize product designs to ensure they are producible with conventional techniques, meet user needs, and maintain aesthetic appeal.
After graduation, you are eligible to apply to the PhD programme at JTH, as well as many other PhD programmes worldwide.

Resources

Resources & Facilities
As a student in the Industrial Design master’s program, you’ll have access to state-of-the-art resources that support creativity, hands-on exploration, and professional development throughout your studies.
JTH LABS
Our facilities include spacious work areas and a fully equipped workshop where students spend much of their time building prototypes and developing concepts. Whether you're crafting models, testing functionality, or refining form, JTH LABS is the heart of hands-on learning at our school.
3D Printer farm
Prototyping is a key part of the design process. That’s why our students have free access to more than 30 different 3D printers, available for unlimited use in their projects. From rapid concept models to detailed design mock-ups, the printer farm makes it easy to bring ideas to life quickly and iteratively.
Design studio
Industrial design students have dedicated workspaces in our design studio, fostering creativity, focus, and collaboration. It’s your own place to develop ideas, sketch, model, and dive deep into your projects.
Clay workshop
Working with clay is an important method for exploring form, proportions, and ergonomics. Our clay lab gives students the opportunity to shape, assess, and refine physical models in a tactile and intuitive way.
