Professional development for teachers is the key to integrating the use of digital pedagogies,  platforms and tools into higher education and thus opening up greater opportunities for flexibility in terms of course delivery, accessibility and student engagement. In this webinar you will meet representatives from the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) in Scotland, a digitally and geographically distributed university based on a network of colleges, research institutes and learning centres all over the west and north of the country. Within this context, the use of technology and digitally enabled approaches to learning and teaching is central to all courses and programmes and also to the provision of developmental opportunities for teachers.

In this webinar you will learn about UHI’s unique model for higher education, their professional recognition scheme for educational practice, and how through this scheme and other interventions they support teachers’ use of digital technology. This will then lead into an opportunity for you to discuss in small groups how these ideas could be implemented where you are.
